Other points of interest
Never one to sit still, these are some of the projects and musings that have accumulated over the years. By no means complete, the samples here are merely those that have arrived mature enough to share.
Ideas
A creation
of light and mood, the multicolor lamp adds a different dimension to
lighting by letting the individual define what color and intensity they
want in the room.
Four concentric shapes make up the color barriers that serve to blend three primary colors plus white in the outer most ring. Each cylinder is glass with reflective tinting film applied to the outer surface. Within each cylinder, in the base of the lamp, are halogen lights behind colored gels: red, yellow, and blue. A panel on the base of the lamp contains a triangular touch-pad controller and a slider for the lamp intensity. Moving a finger around or simply touching the touch pad will select the color -turning each color lamp on to the brightness necessary to create the color. The slider increases or decreases the overall brightness of the lamp without changing the color.
Each
museum contains a wealth of information that public is rarely privy to.
From the archives of paintings that may not be on display to the history
of art that may not be apprehend to the casual visitor. Traditionally
museums address this with cordless-phone looking audio guides. Visitors
rent the guide and learn more about the paintings as they dial in the
exhibit number.
The Personal Curator is a tablet pc and is basically the audio guide for the modern era. On the left side is a data cloud containing all the exhibits in the museum. On the right is textual information about the currently selected exhibit along with a map along the bottom that indicates where the visitor is and where connected pieces of art are. The tablet tracks the user through the museum and provides information on the closest exhibits and relational information to other works in the museum.
