This is an little application that will live in your system tray. It will check your network connectivity and if it detects that you need logging into the LAWN system (when using a wireless card) it will try and log you in. This should minimize the trouble of logging into the LAWN network every time the computer comes off standby, or if you simply forget to start up a web browser before reading your email, or ftping a file.
You can download precompiled binaries for windows (desktop and laptops) and for wince machines using the SH3 processor (jornado 548) and strongarm (IPAQ). To see what has changed look at the version history.
The applications will run most of the time in the system tray. The icon (see Figure 1) will have a green background if connected to the network, and red if not connected to the network. Right clicking on the icon will bring up a small menu that will allow you to try and connect to the network, and open up the main screen. Double clicking with the left mouse button on the icon will open up the main screen as well.

Figure 1: LAWN autologin running in the system tray.
On the main screen of the application (see Figure 2) you can enter your login name and your password. Your login name has to be your PRISM account name, and your password is the password associated with that (if your password has expired you will need to go to OIT to enable your account again). It will also show the status of the network connection. Pressing connect will immediately try and connect to the network, and if successful update the window and trayicon. Hide will minimize the application to the system tray. Prefs will allow you to change a few preferences.

On the preferences screen (see Figure 3) you can enable and disable the automatically saving of your username and password to the registry. If you enable this, your username and password will be saved in the registry and the next time the application is started it will load your username and password. Your password however will be saved unencrypted in the registry! So only enable this if you don't mind this. If you disable it any password and username stored will be removed. The preferences screen also allows you specify how often the application should check to see if there is a network connection (in seconds), and what URL is used to see if there is a network connection.

To install the application simply download the appropriate binary and place it on your machine. Start the application by double clicking on it and it should run.
