Networking and peer inspiration from alumni of your program/school is important when making decisions about the next steps in your career. However, schools lose touch with alumni once they graduate and find it difficult to keep a track of where they are. Networking platforms such as Linkedin are helpful but do not provide a big picture of your alumni network. AlmaBase is a Linkedin extension, that shows a visualization of career trajectories of alumni from your program, for you to find the "right" alumni to network with and get inspired.
Augmenta11y is an Augmented Reality (AR) app that helps people with learning disabilities like dyslexia easily read textual material in the real world using their smartphones and tablets. By giving users customizable font styles, background colors, letter spacing, line heights, real-time translations, and 9 text-to-speech voices with dynamic playback speeds – every user can find an experience tailored to them. Early research has shown a 21% improvement in reading times when users were given the app versus without the app. This is an on-going research effort as a part of an independent study.
