Assignment 4:
Think of this as an interim report to a boss on a project that she has assigned. It is an update on activities, a status report that indicates movement towards a solution. Such a report might include the following:
- Defining the problem:
A working definition of the problem— How you have refined or constrained the design problem so that you can move towards a solution? What problems or sub-problems will your system address? What problems will it ignore? Describe some scenarios in which the system will be a participant. This is not set in stone. It is a working definition.- A response to the problem:
Describe in words the overall concept that your solution will be taking. Define the sub-concepts or parts to the solution. Illustrate current concepts that the group is working with. What are the functional requirements of the proposed system? What are the non-functional requirements? How do you envision testing or evaluating your design?- Challenges and opportunities
: What is unresolved? What might pose problems later on? What seems promising?- Schedule of activities to arrive at final solution:
Propose a method of working for your group. How will you finish the project? As a group? As individuals working on parts? How would your team like to be evaluated on the final product?
Assignment four, as with the other assignments, will be judged as a designed
artifact in its own right. Think about how to best represent and communicate the work your team has accomplished and its vision for work till the end of the term.
