On the other hand, it hides away lots of issues of doing multimedia. Multimedia is challenging -- it's hard to design in, and it's hard to design tools for multimedia designers.
In this project, you are to create a multimedia presentation with at least three and preferably more kinds of media in it. Valid forms of media include text, graphics, video (QuickTime, AVI, MPEG), audio (WAV, AIFF, ULAW, MP3), streaming video or audio, or MIDI Music. The trick is you may not use the Web, and you may not use Director or other Multimedia Presentation Tool. You have to deal with creating and connecting the media yourself. You should design your presentation to be as flexible as possible, e.g., it should be possible to reuse parts of your code or your representations for other media presentations.
You may use Squeak (http://www.squeak.org), Python (http://www.python.org), or Java.
The topic of your presentation can be anything you want. Some suggestions: "How to find the College of Computing", "Favorite Restauraunts in Atlanta", "TV Guide for the Week of...", "My Favorite Moments from Movie XYZ with My Comments", etc.
