Although web page accesses are seemingly unrelated, when a web proxy sees a large number of web page accesses from a large number of users, the web proxy might be able to discern patterns among these accesses.
The goal is to use one such prediction scheme, the Liv Zempel scheme, to be able to identify such patterns. Such patterns are used to prefetch web pages that are expected to be accessed in the near future.
Deliverable
Modifications to a simulator that uses the Liv Zempel scheme to identify patterns among disk accesses. The existing simulator builds a tree that is used to identify patterns in disk accesses.
