CS8803GTA Final Paper:
Course Postmortem
Due Date:
October
8th, Noon - to Idris Hsi’s mailbox
Objectives:
-
To provide an opportunity for students to reflect on the
classes offered during the workshop
-
To provide the instructor and guest speakers with feedback
for improving the course for next year.
Requirements:
-
4+ pages, 12 point font, 1" margins, double spaced.
-
The paper should contain, at minimum, the following contents:
-
Discuss three classes that you enjoyed or learned the most
from. Summarize what those classes discussed and what you liked about them
or what you remember most about them.
-
Choose two classes that you did not find useful or that could
have been improved. Summarize the contents of those classes and suggest
ways that those courses could have been improved.
-
Discuss the overall design and implementation of the course.
For example,
-
Did the course succeed in providing you, as a graduate teaching
assistant, or a future GTA, with the information that you needed to know
to do your job?
-
Did you like the course or not and why?
-
Is this an effective method for delivering this material?
-
Did the course fail to discuss material that you needed to
know for being a Graduate Teaching Assistant? If so, what?
-
Part of the mandate from the Institute is that all graduate
teaching assistants be assessed by their department for job performance.
How should this be done? What kinds of qualities should the College of
Computing be assessing? How do you think this could or should be done?
-
You are also welcome to include your opinions on any topic
related to this course. Quality of classes, university teaching, your GTA
experience so far, and so on.
