Problem
Tamper resistant devices provides a computing environment that cannot be monitored or modified. Smart cards are tamper resistant devices that are commercially available with reasonable costs. The goal of this project is to familiarize a student with smart cards and their capabilities. This project requires that the student designs and implements and authentication protocol using smart card. I will provide a very powerful (containing a cryptographic coprocessor) Siemens smart card to the student for the implementation.

Deliverable
Report describing and justifying the protocol designed.

Evalution The evaluation will be based on an analysis of how the designed protocol would sustain attacks and how easy would be to deploy.
