Introduction
This is a workshop designed to prepare teaching assistants at the College
of Computing to handle some of the instructional and support activities
that help the class to run smoothly. It will go over a variety of practical
skills and involve some discussion of the topics drawn from the experiences
of the workshop instructors and the students themselves.
Course Syllabus
Meeting Times: MWF, 5-6 (6:30)
Location: Tuesdays - College of Computing Building, Room 17.

Office Hours: CCB 202, M 11-1, Th 1-3, or by appointment.

Course Objectives

To teach you some of the basic techniques used in teaching and instruction.

To provide the opportunity to practice skills that are helpful in teaching
and instruction.

To acquaint you with the college and campus resources available to support
you in your job.

To explore and discuss educational issues in a collaborative setting.
Instructor's Responsibilities

To support you in acquiring some of the basic skills and ideas that you
will need to be familiar with as a TA.

To provide you with the necessary resources and guidance to support your
activities as a TA
Your Responsibilities

Attend all the workshop sessions (Attendance is mandatory.
You must notify the instructor if you can't attend for some reason).

Be prepared to discuss the workshop topics.

Think about and practice what you've learned in the workshop.

Be active in presenting your own thoughts and opinions gained, either through
introspection on your own experiences or through class readings and handouts.

Bring questions or problems related to your own experiences as a TA (if
you have any).
-
Give feedback that will enable us to improve the content and execution
of this course.
