Getting Started in CS1322
This page is intended to give an introduction to those items in the course that you need to quickly become
adapted with, to ensure your success in this course.
CS1322 .Announce Newsgroup
The 1322 .Announce newsgroup provides students with the latest and greatest information in the course. All students,
enrolled in CS1322 (which includes you) are REQUIRED TO READ .ANNOUNCE EVERY DAY. Failure
to read this newsgroup can possibly cause you to miss turn-in dates, annoucements about tests, extensions on assignments,
etc. Make no mistake about it, if you do not read this newsgroup everyday, your performance in this course can and
probably will suffer. Do not let missing an announcement on .announce keep you from getting the grade you deserve.
You can read .announce on the Web! Click here!
If you would like to use a newsgroup reader to view the newsgroups, including .announce, you can visit F.A.Q for information on how to set that up.
Webwork
Webwork is the class administration system used to distribute and collect assignments, provide information to you
as to who your Teaching Assistant (T.A.) and Supervisor Teaching Assistant (S.T.A.) are, and maintain a record of
your performance in the class (i.e. grades). You will use Webwork to RETREIVE an assigment, SUBMIT your work for
that assigment, GETBACK your assignment and do a CLEAN compile to ensure Webwork received what you had intended,
as well as see your grades in the course.
You may be wondering, when will I be able to login to Webwork and start working on my first assignment?
Webwork will be available sometime during the week of: 01/14/02.
The link for Webwork is at the bottom of the navigation bar, on the leftside of the website.
Recitation
Recitation will begin: The week of 01/14/02.
Be sure to attend the correct recitation section, as you will need to turn
in your take home evaluation test to your T.A., as well as meet your T.A. and bombard him with those questions you have been
dying to get answered.
You can find out which recitation section you are in, and consequently which room and where, by visiting OSCAR.
Whatever recitation section is listed in OSCAR, is the one you are to show up at. OSCAR is the official word on where to show up for recitation.
The take home test can be found: here.
Print it out, complete it and bring it to your T.A. on the first recitation day, which begins
the week of 01/14/02.
