TURNIN:

Your gt number and four letter type preference.  Enter the data at: http://www.prism.gatech.edu/~cs2335/lab1.html

ASSIGNMENT:

PURPOSE:  For student's to determine their personality preferences using the MBTI technique.

 GENERAL:

Working in a team means working with people.  Many team problems are commonly called "personality conflicts" and are caused by people who have difficulty relating to each other.  The MBTI gives an indication of your preferred reactions to situation .  By understanding how others approach problems, it can enhance your ability to function cohesively in a team.

The MBTI is not a pigeonhole into which you can place someone.  People will often operate outside the envelope and surprise you.  People also adapt to different situations, so that an introvert who is a project manager may actually appear to others to be an extrovert.  You have to be really careful how you use MBTI information about yourself and your other team members-especially given the informal test we will use in this lab.

We will use your type indicator information in the team classes beginning next week.

YOUR ASSIGNMENT

You are to read a short description of the type indicators located at: http://www.teamtechnology.co.uk/tt/t-articl/mb-simpl.htm.  You can disregard the commercials about their team stuff and focus on the discussion of the personality types.  Using that information and the simple test at: http://www.haleonline.com/psych/   to determine your personality type.  We will use this personality information in the team portion of the course.  IMPORTANT:  If you have taken the real MBTI, then use that data because it is (obviously) much more accurate that the free web instruments available.
