Problem
Read chapter one and three other chapters of your choice from Donald
Hoffman's book Visual
Intelligence. Pick one or two rules from the chapters you have read and
implement them. You may use any language you like. Your program should read an
arbitrary input image and apply your rule(s) to it, producing an output image
which encodes your interpretation. Depending on your choice of language, I may
be able to provide you with libraries for reading/writing images. Do a
literature search for one of your chosen rules. Find and read one or two papers
from the original literature about your rule.
Evaluation
Choose three representative images and run your program on them. I will give you 2-3 more images to test. You will write a three page report on the performance of your program. It should include a short discussion of the original paper(s) you have read, relative to the presentation of the rule in Hoffman's book.
