Personal Information Management

Problem

Much research attention has been given to integrating information from disparate sources for enterprise and other applications. Personal information for most users of computers and mobile devices is available at many different places and in many different forms. It appears that there is very little research in assimilating and presenting this personal information to people.

In this project, our goal is to understand the state of art in Personal Information Management. This will be done by reading research papers and studying the direction of several products and services. This study may result in identifying research problems that needs to be solved for providing effective and efficient solutions to personal information organization, indexing, and retrieval. It is expected that effort equivalent to reading about 8-10 research papers will be required. The findings of the research will be presented in a short white paper. Student will work closely with the sponsor in selecting the papers and synthesizing their findings.
