Abstracting Overlay Networks

Problem

This is a survey on the existing overlay network systems. Your are
supposed to cover the following in your survey:

1) Identify the key components common to different overlay systems.

2) Among the components identified in 1), further identify those
components that have their correspondents in the Internet (or other
networks), compare and constrast the design and implementation
considerations for each pair.

3) Identify components existing in the Internet but not in existing
overlay systems. For each such component, give your opinions on:
a. whether or not it is useful to have on overlays
b. whether or not it is feasible to implement on overlays

Note: "component" in the description refers to entity, protocol,
service, etc.

Deliverables

• A report which includes the survey results, and your opinions.  Please include the complete list of references.

Evaluation

Based on the quality of the report.
