The Effect of
Computing on the Future of Society
- Before you read the article, think about why
you have chosen a career
in computing.
- Write down your reasons in priority order.
- Then read the Weizenbaum article handed out in
class
- Write down answers to the questions in the How to Read a Research Paper list.
- Write a short statement, no more than one page, describing
your prediction of the power and role of computing thirty years from
now. That is, predict the world you are helping to create. Try to
include both positive and negative aspects.
In addition to submiting your work via
the Swiki, bring a written copy to
class. Be prepared to discuss your answers in class.
