The following supplemental texts may be helpful:

  • Robot Vision by B. Horn, MIT Press, 1986.
This is one of the few classic vision texts. It is particularly strong in describing image formation, visual motion, and the recovery of shape and depth.
  • Vision Science: Photon to Phenomenology by S. Palmer, MIT Press 1999.
This recent compendium provides a good synthesis of the field from a psychological perspective. (See the
    review in AJP).
  • Foundations of Vision by Brian A. Wandell, Sinauer Associates, Inc. 1995.
This is an excellent text, with a great treatment of color and early human vision.
  • Multiple View Geometry by R. Hartley and A. Zisserman
An excellent textbook on the state of the art in geometry as used in computer vision
