Course Information

Time: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4:35-5:55 pm
Location: 101 CCB - College of Computing

Description

This course serves as an orientation to graduate life for a PhD student in the College of Computing.

Course Objectives

  • Gain familiarity with research topics in the College of Computing.
  • Learn some technical skills to serve you in a research career.
  • Learn how to cope with life as a graduate student.
  • Have some fun along the way.

Responsibilities of Students

  • Arrive on time and attend all class meetings
  • Participate in classes
  • Submit projects on the due date

Prerequisites

PhD-level standing.

Grading

Mini-projects (60%).
Presentation (20%).
Hosting and Attendance (20%).

Attendance Policy

Because one goal of the course is to familiarize you with all the research that's being done at the College, it is vitally important that you attend as many of the class sessions as possible. However, you are allowed up to five absences over the course of the term.
