Welcome to CS1321!

Thanks

Thanks to Blake O'Hare for his original artwork for our splash logo above! Thanks also for the fabulous site design by Matt Bishop and additional design by Bobby Mathew. The virtual tour is the twisted creation of Dennis Dwyer. Thanks to all!

TIP

When navigating the site, look for these "tip" boxes. They usually contain useful links relating to the page and may even contain hints on how to handle assignments in the class.

Realize you didn't really know recursion this weekend? Loops running circles around you? Then come on down to CoC 102 101 this Sunday. From 3-7 PM, helpful TAs will be on hand to answer questions you have before your big day on Monday.

Also, for you CS types that will be going on to take 1322/1331 and 1332, come at 3 for some inspirational song and dance, or at least learn a couple things to make your life in the CoC easier and exciting.

Ever wonder how a computer works? Maybe just the basic parts on the inside bother you? Or does the concept of technology scares you, and you've been doing the entire class via pencil and paper?

Fear not, as the following links will help you....Especially on Monday:

The TheatrePlay.pyc has been updated to print out a few more error messages if there are some problems with your objects. This is currently only for Python version 2.4.1 (You'll know if you get a BadMagicNumberError by downloading it). Please update if you are having unexplicable error messages.

Also, Lab 5 is currently up on the Labs section. It is due on Friday, April 17th. It's not too long, and it's only Excel, but get it done ASAP =)

Homework 8 is updated from the version that was out this morning. This was to get around some issues between two files that import each other, and some other wonky issues I was having. Download the new hw8.py if you have the earlier version without begin().

Also, there is extra credit on this one =)

I will be available from ??? - 3 PM, and from 4:30-6PM (Before my recitation) in CoC 117 today. The reason for the ??? is I have to get a few things taken care of (Shouldn't take until after 12, but we'll see), but I will be available for questions about the lab (And other things) during those times. If you need help, feel free to see me at the above times, or come to the recitation (In IC117).

Okay, Lab 2 issues from off-campus users: Most of you have been getting "You do not have permission to talk". The reason is the "default" SMTP server for the new version of Thunderbird isn't correct. So, after using the computer of a gracious friend in CA, I have something that should work:

In the meantime, the due date for Lab 2 has been pushed back until Monday at midnight.

2006.1.19

Lab 2 is now up in the 'Labs' section, due Jan. 26th at 6PM. Be sure to check out the virtual tour and help desk pages if you need help finding TAs for assistance.

There have been some issues with WebWork with the new account numbers (The GT#s that are based on your name, not the old gtxXXXx system). If you have been having registration issues, log in using the following:

Username: *Whatever your account name is*
Password: changeme

In order to be fair to everyone, the due date for Lab 1 has also been changed. Please check the lab page for more info.
