Objectives

• Gain familiarity with research areas and potential advisors in the College of Computing.
• Learn some technical skills to serve you in a research career.
• Learn how to cope with life as a graduate student.
• Have some fun along the way.

Responsibilities of students

• Arrive on time and attend all class meetings
• Participate in classes
• Engage with potential research areas
• Complete projects

Grading

• Mini-projects: 60%
• Presentation: 20%
• Attendance and participation: 20%

• Create your own web page
• Come talk to me: I want every student to come meet with me at least once, either during my office hours or during a separate appointment made via email. Of course, in addition to this meeting if you have any questions or need any advice any time this fall, I'd be happy to meet with you.
