Extra Credit Opportunity
You have the opportunity to add one point to your
semester's final average by performing one of the two extra credit
options below.
- You will participate in a research study that examines how
students learn about computer algorithms. In particular, this study
examines the use of animations of algorithms as potential learning
aids. In the study, you will work with an animated representation of
an algorithm. The study will take
approximately 90-120 minutes. A sign-up sheet can be found at
http://www.cs.uga.edu/~rhodes/algoAnimSignUp.html and contact
instructions are included there as well. Sessions run
Nov. 7th through Nov. 16th.
- You will create a PowerPoint presentation (minimum 15 slides)
about a computer algorithm that could be used to teach the algorithm
to a class. Along with the PowerPoint slides, you will create a
separate document scripting the explanation of each slide. The
presentation must be of high-quality, something that could potentially
be used in a class. If you are
interested in this option, please send an email to rhodes@cs.uga.edu
for details on the algorithm you will need to describe.
