CS 4001 Class Participation
- Term paper proposal (5%). This is your term paper, not anybody else's, so a serious attempt at a term paper proposal, even one that is extensively changed later after discussion is a good indication that you are making this your own project, not regarding it as an externally imposed assignment.
- Attendance (5%). You need to do more than turn up for class to participate, but (to misquote Woody Allen) 33% of participation is just showing up. We will circulate a sign-up sheet at the beginning of many class sessions. Your attendance grade will be calculated on a sliding scale based on your attendance on those days, but attendance on the days when we discuss students' term papers will be weighted more heavily. Please show respect to your fellow students, by coming to class on those days. And whatever you do, don't miss class without an excused absence when you are due to present!
- Discussion and activities (5%). Participating in class discussions, volunteering for reporting activities at the end of group discussions, posting of discussion commentary on the class coweb, all count toward participation. Different activities will be announced during the semester.
