CS 7630: Autonomous Robotics (Fall 2008)

Homework #3

Due: No later than Thursday 11/19/2008 23:59:59

Find a current active research effort that is pushing the limits of what robotics is in your mind. This research should not be considered mainstream or traditional in any sense as it pushes the definition and/or frontiers of robotics, but is being conducted by what you view as a reputable group of scientists. You can use the web, journals, conference proceedings, etc. to find such a project.

Prepare one (1) PowerPoint slide for your finding (it can include an embedded video - send the URL for the video not the video itself). Be prepared on class on Monday 11/24 to present what you discovered as a form of fringe robotics,  explaining why it is both beyond the bounds of normal research as well as presenting the qualifications of the researchers which make it a credible project, and whether or not you think funding investment should be provided for this far out, high risk idea. Email that slide to Prof. Arkin before the due date (11/19).
