Do it yourself (1)

This first part of the DIY will explain how to complete the mechanical part of the project. The second part will explain how to complete the electrical and software parts.

1. Cut the 1x12 board into a square, 11.25" x 11.25"

2. Cut the 1x2 into 4 pieces, 2 of them 11.5" long, and 2 13".

3. Drill a 1.25" diameter hole in the center of both 13" long boards.

4. Force the 1.25" diameter bearing into each hole until it is flush with the side of the 1x2.

5. Drill pilot holes into 2 opposite sides of the 1x12, halfway down its length.

6. Screw through the center holes of the bearings into the pilot holes, attaching the long 1x2s to the 1x12.

7. Screw the short 1x2s into the ends of the long 1x2s, completing the frame around the 1x12.

8. Cut the 3/8" ID vinyl tubing to a length of 1"

9. Use a box cutter the cut the blades off the servo motors propeller-head attachment, leaving only the center circle intact.

10. Epoxy the servomotors circle head into one end of the vinyl tubing and the other end on one of the screws in the bearing

11. Attach a small pieces of scrap wood to the frame under the servomotors screw-holes, then screw to motor into it

12. Cut the 1x2 into 4 more pieces, 2 13.25" long and 2 16" (slightly larger than the length of the frame with the motor attached)

13. Estimate the center of mass of the frame-platform-motor piece and drill 1.25" diameter holes at this length in the 16" boards

14. Force the 1.25" diameter bearing into each hole until it is flush with the side of the 1x2

15. Drill pilot holes into the frame where the new bearings line up

16. Screw through the center holes of the bearings into the pilot holes

17. Screw the short 1x2s into the ends of the long 1x2s, completing the frame around the other frame

18. Cut the 3/8" ID vinyl tubing to a length of 1"

19. Use a box cutter the cut the blades off the servo motors propeller-head attachment, leaving only the center circle intact

20. Epoxy the servomotors circle head into one end of the vinyl tubing and the other end on one of the screws in the bearing

21. Attach a small pieces of scrap wood to the frame under the servomotors screw-holes, then screw to motor into it
