The rest of the grades have now been input and the grade reports are updated.
I appreciate your honesty and candor about problems in the class. I definitely recognize that CaMILE needs to be re-written and optimized.
As a short term solution, I've trimmed up the forum so that there are fewer notes. It should run faster now.
TA Alex Zhao is leaving this afternoon for all of break. If you need to meet with him about a grade, please do so before 5 pm today.

Final Exam Review is now up, with links to MMC-CaMILE. Please do participate -- I find that there is a definite correlation between grades and those who participate in the discussions.

Fixed but Too Late: I just realized last week that all the imagemaps in STABLE had stopped working! I'm sorry! The server got moved and the imagemap stuff broke.
All imagemaps in STABLE should now be working again.

I have all PA2's in my office (graded) -- please stop by to pick them up.
Don't forget to turn in the Design Survey tomorrow, too, please!
Thu, Aug 21, 1997
At today's lecture, you're going to be given a design survey that I would like returned with PA3 next Tuesday, please.
Also, please do come next Tuesday. We're going to have class evaluation that day, and I'd appreciate your input!

If you picked up someone else's by accident, please return it AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! Thank you!

I'M BAAAAAACCKK! The trial ended in a mistrial yesterday -- first day, only third witness.
I'll hold office hours as usual tomorrow at 2, and I'll be in class at 3.
Something of interest: A paper on the creation of Squeak:
Okay, the worst-possible-scenario just came true: I've been picked to serve on a jury...FOR THE NEXT TWO WEEKS!
I'm working out with the TAs who is going to cover which lectures. In general, it's not a bad time -- PA2 is done (tomorrow)
and PA3 is out there now. The bulk of the lecture material is done. I will be available via email, but only limited (they have me on-duty 8-6).
More details as they're determined...

I will be out of town this weekend (Friday to Sunday) and on jury duty (!!) on Monday. So...
I'm asking the TA's to leave graded PA1's outside my door (254 College of Computing Building) in folders tomorrow (Friday). Please pick up.
If you have questions on PA2, ask soon!
Also, I've just installed a new CGI Framework on MMC. Some errors (like "Error connecting to Frontier") should now disappear. Let me know if you have any problems, please

PA1 Criteria is now available. Lab6 has been there since last week, but I forgot to regenerate the index. Sorry!

The following is going to sound like a grouchy message. I'm actually in a pretty good mood, but concerned that I'm being too much of a crutch
for some of you, instead of encouraging you to learn on your own.
I've been getting a bunch of requests lately (email, office hours, others) for information that is readily available, on the Website or in lab. Examples:
"Who is my TA? What's his email?" Well, it's been on the course home page since day one...
"How do you loop over a collection?" "I just did this in lecture." "Oh, I skipped." All the lecture notes are on-line...
"How do I get Squeak for my XXX platform?" Links to Squeak info are on the Links page and have been since day one...
And so on. Of course, I get many legit questions, and I actually enjoy chatting individually with y'all, so I'm happy to get them and answer them.
But trading off my time answering email for your time actually reading the Web page and learning to find your own answers is a bad tradeoff.
So here's what I'm going to do. If you send me a question for which the answer is really easily found, I'll respond -- with a single word. "Web." "Lecture."
And I'll expect you to go find your own answers.

If your PA2 team hasn't met yet to work out your OOA and OOD, and you're willing to be observed as you do so, would you please contact
Noel Rappin at noel@cc.gatech.edu and tell him when/where you're meeting? He can even provide a place to meet, if you're hunting. It would be
useful for his research to see the designs that get assembled and what parts of the analysis and design you tackle when. Thanks!

I'm getting lots of people asking about re-grading on P3 of the midterm. If you do not explicitly say something about objects recieving specific messages,
I can't give you any more credit. I'm sorry.

I'm moving my Tuesday office hours to 12-1 -- maybe more visitors that way?

Midterm grades now posted in MMC-CaMILE. Grades were good: Average 81.3 (compared to 79 last quarter).
Problem #1 and #4 were both pretty good. Problem 2 was fair (63% average). Problem 3 was bad (57% average).

I've posted a survey on debugging. If you could take a few minutes and tell us about your experiences debugging in Smalltalk (and elsewhere), we'd appreciate it!
