Week 2 7/1: NO CLASS 7/2: Extend the "Muppets Lab" 7/3: Introduction to the Counter (Chapter 1 of Coad & Nicola)
Week 3 7/8: Introduction to Graphical User Interfaces (GUI) in Smalltalk using Coad and Nicola User Interface Package. Do the Counter GUI. 7/9: Debugging in Smalltalk 7/10: Live OOA/D/P Design assignment due 7/10. Programming assignment #1 is available 7/10
Week 4 7/15: Why Simulate? Starting Chapter 2: Vending Machine. 7/16: From OOA/OOD, do OOP 7/17: Continuing the Vending Machine.
Week 5 7/22: MIDTERM EXAM 7/23: Blocks and data structures 7/24: Data structures in Smalltalk. (7/25 Last Day to Withdraw)
Week 6 7/29: Discrete and Continuous Simulations: Intro to Simulation Package 7/30: Using the Simulation Package 7/31: More on Simulations PA1 due 7/29. PA2 (team simulations) goes out 7/29
Week 7 8/5: An overview of C++ 8/6: Debugging in C++ 8/7: Finishing up C++
Week 8 8/12: Overview of Java. Choosing between O-O Languages. 8/13: Visualization in Smalltalk 8/14: HCI Programming in Visualworks PA2 due 8/12. PA3 goes out 8/26
Week 9 8/19: More on MVC and HCI 8/20: Visualization in Smalltalk, Part 2 8/21: Design methods: Object-oriented and HCI
Week 10 8/26: More advanced GUI, event-based programming 8/27: NO LAB! TAs available for review questions. 8/28: Review for final. What Mark does in his spare time. PA3 due 8/26. FINAL EXAM: Friday Sept. 5 8-10:50
