CS6751 * Extra Credit Assignments
Completing any one of the following by Tuesday Sept 1, 1998 will result
in 5 points being added to your grade on the final exam. The assignment
must be completed to the satisfaction of the TAs & professor for credit.
No partial credit will be given -- it's all or nothing, so do put some
thought into it. You can only earn 5 points of extra credit maximum,
so only plan on doing one of the following. PLEASE feel free to contact
me (Colleen) with questions. I'd also be happy to review drafts if
you'd like to make sure you're on the right track.
-
Participate in Colleen's HCI Knowledge Experiment between August 24
and Sept 1. (For complete information, see this writeup.)
Connect to http://magritte.cc.gatech.edu:8115/cgi-bin/pathfinder/login.cgi
from a .gatech.edu machine. Please use a stable version of your browser
as crashes can cause results to be lost. If it crashes on the last
(Debriefing) page your results are still safe -- let me know and I'll email
you your results.
-
Evaluate your system using one of the evaluation methods (to be) described
in class (i.e. cognitive walkthough, heurisitic evaulation, GOMS, etc.)
Describe in a 2-3 page report your method, what problems were found and
how you might address them. Give your opinion of the method you chose
to use.
-
Evaluate your system by showing your storyboards to 3-4 representative
users. Describe in a 2-3 page report their reactions, problems, and
suggestions. Discuss how you might address the issues they raised.
Give your opinion of the usefulness of this kind of evaluation.
-
In a 2-3 page report, describe how you went about doing the project for
this class. What problems did you encounter? What was easier
than expected and what was harder? What did you learn about HCI that
you didn't know before? You might want to phrase your report as "advice"
to a student who will be taking this course in the future.
-
Propose some other small extra-credit project that you'd like to do.
