CS7100: Instructions for setting up WWW page and using it to submit reports.

Fall 1997.

How to set up a WWW page on CoC systems.

  1. On a unix shell type

  2. % mkwwwhome
  3. For help with this do (man mkwwwhome)
  4. This will set up a WWW page for you and there will be a directory made for you in your home directory

  5. % ls ~/.www-home
  6. Be warned that this will not set up the home page on the server right away, however, things will propogate overnight.  In the meantime, you will be able to access your page as a local file.  This will be true for all reports submitted (ie., if it is due on Oct 30, 1997, you will have to finish it by the night of Oct 29, 1997 for me to see it).
  7. I think your WWW page will be at http://www.cc.gatech.edu/~username
Set up a directory for CS7100
  1. Make a directory in your WWW directory for cs7100

  2. % cd ~/.www-home
    % mkdir cs7100
We will link the above as http://www.cc.gatech.edu/~username/cs7100/ from CS7100 pages.
  3. Copy a template for CS7100

  4. % cp -r /net/www/classes/cs7100_97_fall/template/* cs7100/
Use your favorite HTML editor (Netscape Gold, Netscape Composer, Cosmocreate) to edit the above files.
