Why is it called a Guildhall

In more simpiler times, young folks wishing to take up some skilled trade would join a guild. The meeting place where members went and exchanged knowledge in the Guildhall.

Becoming a proficient Lisp programming is an exercise in skill acquisition. There these pages comprise an electronic Hall in which knowledge may be passed from one to another. Only there are union dues required. ( But, if you come up with a good tutorial on some Lisp aspects do let me know. )

The above aside, the best reason is that calling it the The Collection of Web Pages about Lisp Programming doesn't sound as good.
