Full System Functionality

This is what our system will look like when fully implemented. Basically, it's similar to the Newton version. A copy of the GVU bitmap and beacon location can be obtained by clicking here.

Scenario:

A person walks around the lab for awhile. He realizes he wants to find the people who actually made his Cyberguide. He does a search for all cyberguide projects and picks the PC version of cyberguide. The map shows him where the IT is in relation to where he currently is. He walks over to it and clicks on the IT. A one line description comes up. He double clicks on the description and Netscape is launched with the cyberguide web page.

Long term vision

Better network (2-way)
Using GPS for outdoor locations, such as campuses

Risks

Need a cost effective way of implementing 2-way communication (cellular phone with modem is very expensive
A relatively fast palm-top PC is needed
