Usability Testing

4.0 Introduction

In the iterative design process we have discussed in class, the most important phase is the cycle at the end of the initial design. In this cycle, testing is performed, which leads to changes in the design based on the evaluation of the tests. This new design is then tested and modified, and this continues until it is determined that the product is ready for general use.

In this project, of course, time constraints don't allow us to perform several rounds of usability tests. We do, however, offer an abstracted description of the process we would use to test our new interface to the drive-through system. We will consider the important usability characteristics we want to achieve, and methods for obtaining measurements and quantitative analysis about our system. Also, we present some results and conclusions obtained from a non-scientific testing of a few subjects. For this testing, we will use the Wizard of Oz prototype described in the previous phase.
