Ladislav Lettovsky earned his bachelor's degree in Cybernetics from the University of Transport and Communications Zilina, Czechoslovakia, a master's in Operations Research at London School of Economics and Political Science, and is currently studying for a doctorate in Optimization at the School of Industrial and Systems Engineering , Georgia Institute of Technology. He is involved in research on the problems of airline crew scheduling.

After his undergraduate studies he served in Czechoslovakian Air Force as a navigator for air-fighters for one year. He then worked as a programmer on projects of scheduling for Czechoslovakian Railways for four years. Ladislav is married and has a four year old daughter. His interests are skiing and kayaking.
