My home town is Hempstead, NY on Long Island. I entered the CS Master program in September and I am graduating after this quarter. I got my BS in MATH/CS from UNC-Chapel Hill (Go Heels!) in '91. After that I worked in Raleigh NC for two years as a UNIX System Administrator and Systems Programmer.
I consider my self a very strong programmer. My favorite languages are C, C++, Perl, and English, also competent in Smalltalk, Basic, Pascal, and assembly. I am currently writing a GUI base query tool in Motif, so I know the basics of Xwindow programming and I have had a taste of MS-Windows development.
I try to be well round so I don't have a specify area of instrest, but since I've been here I have mostly been doing database, and graphics stuff.
As a GRA I have been writing an application in Oracle's SQL*Forms, as a result I have had to think a lot about how to design the interface. I am hoping that after this class I will be able to design interfaces to my programs which can be easily used, by both the novice an the expert.
