Project Part 2 Template

You are to use this document as a template to prepare your Part 2 report. You should personalize it with a project logo or further objects, now or later.

Remember, a clear and succinct writing style is preferred. A long document does not impress me.

Project Description

Write a one page description of the project you have selected. Discuss the general area of application, intended tasks it will support, and the intended user population.

This can be copied from the Part 1 report, or modified based on instructor's comments.

Design criteria

These are carried over from the recommendations section of the Part 1 deliverable.

Description of new design

This is determined by your storyboard sketching. Please include salient sketches and scenario descriptions from your storyboarding experience in this section. If you did your sketching by hand, you can either scan in the storyboard pictures, or you can turn these in separately to the instructor/TA. Indicate in this section how user input affected any changes to earlier storyboard prototypes. Though you do not have to include full transcripts of any user evaluations, you may be asked by the instructor to produce records or diaries as proof.

Description of design prototype

Describe the prototype implementation. Describe the platform on which the system was built and provide directions on how to run the prototype. Remember, for Part 3 of this project, a different team will be performing the evaluation, so your directions on how to execute your system should be fairly complete. You can include screen dumps of the system or actual links to the running prototype (if, for example, the prototype is implemented in a Web-browsable format).

Evaluation plan

Provide a complete description of the evaluation plan that is to be carried out on your prototype. You must choose three evaluation exercises: one participatory exercise, one theory-based evaluation (6-8) and one other evaluation exercise from Chapter 11 in the textbook. You will not be executing this evaluation plan, so you must be very explicit on exactly what evaluation should occur.

It is important in this evaluation plan to explain how the individual evaluation tasks are chosen to evaluate the usability/useful design criteria described earlier.

Appendices

You can include as an appendix any supporting material for this report.
