This server should be available 24 hours a day with only occasional breaks for maintenance. Approximately 3750 files are transferred per day, with about 1000 requests for HTML files alone (this last figure for outside of the Georgia Tech domain). Various other statistics are available. We are accessible through a 45Mbit/sec line to the Internet.
The server software is NCSA httpd 1.4 with HTML parsing enabled, running on a dedicated Sun SPARCstation 2 with SunOS 4.1.3.
Images are either GIF or JPEG (JFIF) or XBM formats.
Sound files are commonly in Sun audio/ADPCM format.
Some files have been compressed using either UNIX compress
or GNU gzip.
Local web browsers in use include Mosaic for X and Mac, Netscape, Hot Java, and Lynx.
