THE TOOLS MENU

This menu gives you options that relate the setup and performance of the AquaMOOSE software.

Default Trail Properites

This dialog has the same options as the Selected Trail Properties in the Environment Menu. However, the Default Trail Properties affect only trails that are created after you click OK. In order for these changes to affect existing trails, you must click Apply before you click OK.

  1. Segments
    1. You can edit the number of segments used to draw trails. Increasing the number of segments will make trails smoother and more detailed, but it will also increase computation time and possibly make animation choppy. Lowering the number of segments will make trails have less detail, but they will be drawn faster. Using a high number of segments results in more accurate renderings of your equations. Using a low number of segments often results in interesting designs.

    2. Low Segment Number

      High Segment Number
  2. Width
    1. Increasing or decreasing the width affects the thickness of trails. Width ranges from 0.01 to 0.10.

    2. Low Width Number

      High Width Number
  3. Color
    1. You can choose two colors that will be used to render your trails.
  4. Animation
    1. The No Animation option indicates that your trails will be drawn using only the Primary Color you chose.
    2. Pulse indicates that your trails' color will fade back and forth from the Primary Color you chose to the Secondary color. You can choose the Pulse Time, which is the amount of time it will take for trails to fade from the Primary Color to the secondary color and back to the Primary Color. At any given instant, all the points on a pulsing trail will be the same color, but that color will change over time.
    3. Wave indicates that your trails' color will fade between the Primary and Secondary color along the lengths of the trails. This effect is similar to stripes on a candy cane. You can choose the Speed of the wave, which is the distance each color will travel along a trail in one second. You can also choose the Wavelength, which is the distance between a stripe on the trail and the next stripe of the same color.

Edit Avatar

The Edit Avatar tool allows you to customize your fish. With this feature you can select a different head, pair of eyes, body, fin, tail, and texture. Once you are done editing your avatar, simply click the Save button. These changes are immediate, but also are saved for you next AquaMOOSE session.

Invert Y-axis

Invert Y-Axis will reverse the way you rotate your fish up and down. The inverted setting is similar to the way a joystick works when flying an airplane.

Framerate

Shows the current performance metrics of the graphics engine based on your hardware.
