How Does Palaver Tree Online Work?

In general, participation on Palaver Tree Online will take a minimum of six weeks from start to finish. There are three basic phases to your class' participation:

  • Preparation -- (Week 1 & 2) -- Permission slips sent home with kids. Software installed. Teacher selects elders from our database. Kids do background reading. Permission slips sent to us via us mail.

  • Interviewing -- (Week 3 & 4) -- Kids formulate and post questions for elders based on their reading. Elders respond. Kids review responses and ask followup questions. Please allow one week for elders to respond.

  • PalaverStories -- (Week 5 & 6) -- Kids create online projects that reflect what they have learned from elders. Elders offer feedback on the projects, and the kids revise their work.
