Georgia Institute of Technology Human Subject Consent and Release Form 1. Title of research project: IRC Français - A French Electronic Learning Community 2. Principal Investigator: James M. Hudson 3. Introduction/Purpose(s) of the Research: It is widely believed that the learning of a foreign language is best facilitated when one is capable of living in that environment for an extended period of time. Additionally, log files of the conversations will be periodically evaluated to measure their language skill development. 5. Foreseeable risks or discomforts: There are no foreseeable risks or discomforts. 6. Benefits: Subjects should receive no benefits other than possible educational benefits of improved language abilities. 7. Compensation/Costs: There are not foreseeable costs of compensation involved. 8. Confidentiality: Every effort will be taken to ensure confidentiality with the results of this study.
