Millner" <amon.millner@alumni.usc.edu> The reading: "Social Empowerment through Community Networks." Shaw, Alan; Shaw, Michelle can be found at: http://web.mit.edu/sap/www/colloquium96/papers/13shaw.html --- Things to think about in preparation for the discussion: How does an online community network with minimal monitary and technical support remain self-sustaining? Would the MUSIC network generalize well to Atlanta low income communities? How do networks in low income communities generally fund themselves? Can a community network successfully restore lost social capital amongst members of a physical neighborhood? Should the use of the network be taken away from individuals in the community for not abiding by a policy and if so is that improving the community (physical or network) or departing from its original intent? Who should may the decision? Are flame wars more dangerous in a community network as physical ramifications may result? --- enjoy the reading and spring break!!!! Amon D.
