Georgia Tech’s Institute for People and Technology hosts its annual People & Technology Forum on November 5-6, 2013 at the Georgia Tech Global Learning Center. The Forum will bring together insightful business leaders, innovative entrepreneurs, brilliant researchers, and committed public leaders to examine how emerging technologies will shape the future of our society.
The 2013 Forum will focus on “The Future of Being Human” during a two-day event featuring visionary speakers, thought-provoking discussions, and research demonstrations that explore the disruptive role of technology paired with human-centered innovation.
Babak Parviz, creator of Google Glass and Director at Google X, will join the 2013 event as a keynote speaker. Babak’s work has been put on display at the London Museum of Science and has received numerous recognitions and awards, including Time magazine’s best invention of the year. In 2012 he was selected by Ad Age as one of the 50 most creative people in the United States.
2013 Panels will focus on the effects of rapid advancements in technology supplementing and confounding traditional information sources, practices, and perceptions of our increasingly complex world.
The Forum also highlights student innovations through the Convergence Innovation Competition’s (CIC) GT Journey competition, a highly successful Georgia Tech student competition designed to tap into the innovative thinking and technical expertise of GT students. The GT Journey completion asks students to innovate new applications and services for the GT campus, Midtown Atlanta community and beyond. Winners of GT Journey will be announced at the People & Technology Forum.
Attendees will have the opportunity to preview Georgia Tech’s Media Outlook 2014 before its release in December 2013. The report outlines megatrends that will shape the future of media, content, and information in the next five years. Since 2009, over 1,600 people have participated in this fusion of ideas and imagination.
