CALL FOR PAPERS: WISP 99 Second Workshop on Internet Server Performance in conjunction with ACM SIGMETRICS 99/FCRC Atlanta, GA, May 1st, 1999 WWW servers have become the primary point-of-presence for information dissemination and retrieval over both the wide-area Internet and within institutional Intranets. WWW servers are now ubiqutious front ends for both traditional content such as text, video, and audio, as well as remote execution services, such as online purchasing and database queries. In all these scenarios, server performance is a central issue in providing ubiquitous, reliable, and efficient information access. The second Workshop on Internet Server Performance (WISP 99) seeks to bring together researchers and practitioners of this interdisciplinary area to exchange ideas and experiences. WISP 99 encourages submissions describing promising work in progress and well-founded position papers concerning WWW server performance. Papers on experimental systems and results are especially encouraged. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: Server Architecture and Implementation Proxy Server Performance Server Support for Continuous Media Server-Database Integration Electronic Commerce Dynamic Content Server Quality of Service/Differentiated Services Workload Characterization Performance Measurement and Monitoring Tools SMP's, Clusters, and Load Balancing Submission Instructions Works in progress and position papers not exceeding 3000 words (excluding figures and references) are solicited. Submissions will only be accepted electronically via email, in either postscript, PDF, word, or HTML formats.
