CyberDesk IUI Scenario #2: Chaining

Please wait until all of the applets finish loading before starting to interact with CyberDesk. Also, note that by following one of the links below and returning to this page, you will be creating a new instantiation of CyberDesk. Please remove all CyberDesk windows when leaving this page (ActOn window, e-mail message windows, etc) to make it less confusing when you return.

CyberDesk Services Being Loaded

The services loaded with this scenario are the scheduler, contact manager, AltaVista, Netscape, SwitchBoard, DejaNews, WhoWhere and converters that recognize strings, names, e-mail addresses, and URLs.

Scenario Steps

The following is a list of steps to duplicate the chaining user scenario described in the IUI-submited paper. Feel free to try other things - you don't have to stick to the following scenario.
  1. Wait for all applets to finish loading
  2. Open the contact manager (click on Contact Manager button)
  3. Open the scheduler (click on the scheduler button)
  4. Select the date June 5, 1997 (click on the 5 button)
  5. Select the name Anind Dey from the schedule frame and view the list of suggestions
  6. Wait a short time (for CyberDesk to contact the WhoWhere service automatically) until the list of suggestions is modified to include e-mail address-related suggestions, along with the name-related suggestions
