Problem
One of the main focuses of ubiquitous computing research has been the instrumentation of environments to automate the capture of live experiences that occur in that environment, making those experiences available to others afterwards. One of the largest such efforts in this research domain has been the eClass project, formerly called Classroom 2000. This project focussed the investigation on university lectures and is an environment that has been operational since January 1996.

The purpose of this project is to investigate automated capture in new environments, such as meeting rooms, outdoors, and in a domestic setting. In addition, interested students can research the classroom environment to better understand what impact eClass has had (we have lots of data) and how it can be improved to better serve educational objectives.
