Problem
The FCE Group, in collaboration with the GT Broadband Institute, have built a new laboratory, called the Residential Laboratory, located at 479 10th Street on the northwest side of campus. The research effort of the FCE faculty (and some others within in the College of Computing) is collectively referred to as The Aware Home Research Initiative. The purpose of our work is to investigate issues involved with building and living in an aware environment built to support everyday domestic activities.

We welcome students to being exploring this new domain for ubiquitous computing. There are a number of projects currently going on in the Residential Laboratory, involving audio-video routing, sensing and interpretation of activity in the home, promoting synchronous and asynchronous communication with a distributed family. Projects can range from literature overviews to prototype developments to evaluation of existing projects and technology. Feel free to contact Gregory and discuss what would be an appropriate projecjt. Many other faculty and students work on the Aware Home, so this project does not necessarily have to be colist of readings and objectives.
