I have reached the point of diminishing returns re: the Toshibas.
Given another weekend and a floppy drive (we really need a floppy drive)
I could probably fix another 4 units, leaving only two bad ones.

Summary of C2000 Machines:

Working: Fujitsu (see below), IBM 360T, Toshiba #'s 1, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9
Not Working: Toshiba #'s 2, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12

!!!DO NOT USE #'s 2, 6, 7, 10, 11, or 12 IN CLASS!!!!

IF YOU DO, DON'T COME TO ME SAYING THAT SOMETHING DOESN'T WORK!
I know for a fact that these units won't convert to gifs, so you
will have to

1) install the slides
2) possibly install classpad
3) copy the inks and logs to a working machine

That leaves us with 7 *fully functional* machines.
Note: Conversion to .GIFs is working like it should-
IE, no "weird" stuff... you see the conversions as they happen.

Here is a detailed summary of what is right/not right with each unit.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Problem Log Of Classpad Units

FUJITSU
-------

Problem: No erase.

Cause: Win95 pen driver. Pen button mapped to
"right" mouse click. Needs to be mapped to "left".

Solution: Couldn't find one. I *could* fix classpad to
accept any mouse button and probably should do so.

Status: Working otherwise.

IBM 730T #1
-----------

Problem: It doesn't convert the images
to gifs or zip them up.

Cause: The exact error message given by DOS
was that there were too many files
in use by the system.

Solution: Increase the files from 30 to 40
in config.sys

Status: Working.

Special Note: autoexec.bat and config.sys are a bit
different on the 730T's than on the
Toshibas, but they are currently
optimized correctly.

TOSHIBA #1
----------

Problem: At one time did not have classpad
correctly installed.

Solution: Copied over from unit #3 the needed files.

Status: Working.

TOSHIBA #2
----------

Problem: Occasionally exhibits memory errors.

Cause: Bad memory?

Solution: Replace memory with another broken unit.
Also need to copy files from unit #3.

Status: Not Working.

TOSHIBA #3
----------

Problem: None.

Special Note: Used this unit as a template for all others.
Backed up on the IBM Thinkpad 360PE.

Status: Working.

TOSHIBA #4
----------

Problem: At one point was getting out of memory
errors.

Cause: Suspected cause is bad configuration files.

Solution: Copied over from unit #3 AUTOEXEC.BAT
and CONFIG.SYS.

Status: Working.

TOSHIBA #5
----------

Problem: At one time did not have classpad
correctly installed.

Solution: Copied over from unit #3 the needed files.

Status: Working.

TOSHIBA #6
----------

Problem: Pen doesn't work in middle area of screen.

Cause: Bad display.

Solution: Unknown.

Status: Not Working.

TOSHIBA #7
----------

Problem: Occasionally exhibits pen errors.
Doesn't boot properly.

Cause: Bad screen / Bad version of DOS installed.

Solution: Unknown. (need a floppy drive to fix)

Status: Not Working.

TOSHIBA #8
----------

Problem: Time gets reset every reboot.

Cause: CMOS battery bad.

Solution: Swapped out good battery from bad unit.

Status: Working.

TOSHIBA #9
----------

Problem: At one point was getting out of memory
errors.

Cause: Suspected cause is bad configuration files.

Solution: Copied over from unit #3 AUTOEXEC.BAT
and CONFIG.SYS.

Status: Working.

TOSHIBA #10
----------

Problem: At one point was getting out of memory
errors.

Cause: Seems to be the tiny virtual memory settings.
For some reason, I can't get this changed.

Solution: Unknown. Best guess: Copy all files from
unit #3 and see what happens.

Status: Not Working.

TOSHIBA #11
----------

Problem: Doesn't boot properly.

Cause: Bad version of DOS installed.

Solution: Unknown. (need a floppy drive to fix)

Status: Not Working.

TOSHIBA #12
----------

Problem: Pen not responding in Windows.

Cause: Windows pen drivers are not installed.

Solution: Copy all files from unit #3 and see what happens.

Status: Not Working.
