CS 7490: Advanced Image Synthesis, Spring 2001

Warm-up project 1:
Shading with Renderman

Our assignment was to experiment with the Renderman renderer with an emphasis on the shading language. Here's what I turned in (zip, 7.9 Kb). Click on the thumbnail to see the final image.

Warm-up project 2:
Texturing with Alpha Maps

Our assignment was to create a scene using alpha mapped textures. In particular, the goal was to use very few unique textures and repetitively draw them as constituents of larger scene objects. Natural items like trees, grass, clouds, and smoke are ideal subjects for this drawing technique. Click on the thumbnail to see the final image.

Final Project:
Interactive Painterly Renderer

Our assignment was to devise and implement a project related to Rendering. The goal was to gain in-depth familiarilty with the particular subject matter via the trials and tribulations of first-hand experience. While contributions to the state of the art are not necessary, they are, of course, a positive.

My project was to implement a Painterly Renderer based directly off of the Barbara Meier paper Painterly Rendering for Animation.
