Project Description
By designing the Message Center, we strive to create
a venue for more instantaneous cross-generational communication.
The biggest challenge in communication
is that elders are increasingly removed from common communication
methods
including email, text messaging, and other mobile technology.
This solution
will incorporate pen & paper based interaction while
allowing instantaneous messaging via phone line. We feel
that emotional design will encourage elders to adopt new
technology rather than simply proposing a new technical
solution.
This research will explore how aesthetics
and usability can alter elders’ perception toward technology and its adoption.
This project is a work in progress with positive feedback already gained from
the qualitative user research.
