hi. my name is alfred park, and i am a phd student at georgia
tech. prior to coming to georgia tech for grad school, i was
already here! i received my b.s. in computer science at georgia
tech in 2002. i am a research assistant under dr.
richard fujimoto in the systems group
and cercs.
the picture to the left is from pads '03 (dr. kalyan perumalla is in the white shirt behind me; see full size photo). |
my research interests are in parallel
and distributed simulation of systems and networks. my advisor is
dr. richard fujimoto.
our current projects include large-scale packet-level simulation of
networks approaching real-time runtimes (see this press
release) and simulation of distributed denial of service (DDoS)
attacks. my current research includes implementing and comparing
asynchronous and synchronous time management for large-scale
simulations. we are utilizing the
pittsburgh supercomputing center
for performance evaluations over many processors.
i maintain the current releases for parallel/distributed
ns (pdns), which is based on the popular ns-2 discrete
event simulator used for networking research.
here's a listing of classes i've taken (or am taking). i'm working towards this.

look! another web space!
in another life, i was planning on a career as a chemist/biochemist.
i was active with the sherrill group as
an undergraduate.
i like to spin records in my free time; my tastes are trance and
house. i've spun a few mix cds together, and for the curious i have
the track listings somewhere...
