Biographical Sketch

Gautam Haridas Shah received his B.Sc. in Physics from Loyola College, Madras in 1985 and a B.E. in Computer Science & Automation from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in 1988. Since then he has been at Georgia Institute of Technology, where he received his M.S. in Computer Science in 1990 and hopes to complete his Ph.D. by July 1995.

Gautam grew up in a joint family environment (yes they still exist) in Madras, India and is extremely fond of his family. His interests include travelling and he enjoys good vegetarian food. He is happily married to Sunita since June '94.

Research Interests

He is currently a graduate research assistant working on the Beehive Project under the supervision of Dr. Ramachandran. His research interests include computer architecture, parallel & distributed systems and programming languages. He has worked as a GRA on the Clouds distributed operating systems project. His thesis research focusses on developing software-directed cache coherence protocols in shared memory multiprocessor systems and involves performance evaluation of such protocols. In this process he has also developed a technique to speed up parallel simulation.
