Welcome ! I am a 2nd year grad student, working under Prof. Ling Liu at the College of Computing at Georgia Institute of Technology. My primary research area is Operating Systems. I am a part of the CERCS (Center for Experimental Research in Computer Systems) group and I work at the DiSL (Distributed data intensive Systems Lab).
My research spans the broad area of OS with a recent focus on storage systems. I currently work on a project called Pro-active Disks which aims at enhancing the storage layer's interaction with the higher layers of the system. A pro-active disk, in addition to responding to higher level read and write requests, also has the capability of transferring its knowledge to the higher layers of the system. A pro-active disk passes its knowledge to the higher layer through generic and sufficiently powerful interfaces. The higher layers viz. the file system can leverage the knowledge exported by the pro-active disk to enhance the system performance. Prior to this, I worked on a few interesting projects, the details of which can be found in my resume. My research statement can be found here. Journals & Conferences : [Under Submission] 1. I earned my undergraduate (Bachelor of Engg.) degree in Computer Science from Anna University, Chennai, India. I spent my entire school-life at St. John's Matriculation Higher Sec. School, Chennai. I was born and brought up in Chennai, India. Apart from computing, I am also interested in law (partly influenced by my father who is a lawyer in India) , management and finance. I play badminton, squash and closely follow cricket. I have two brothers, Muthian and Gopalan, both software engineers at Google. Here is my mother's tamil poetry site and here is my picasa album.
