Time Maps: Credits, Papers, and Acknowledgements
Time Maps were devised by Michael
Terry as part of Diane
Gromala's
Experimental Media class at Georgia
Tech.
Grace Ou and Jaroslav Tyman, along with Michael Terry, created the 9
minute movie Tesseract
showcasing these techniques. Starting with a series rapid-fire
snapshots taken from over 20 webcams scattered across the globe, Tesseract gradually stretches time
out, presenting ever-increasing views of lengths time. At its finale,
the audience is treated to a simultaneous showing of an entire season
of days progressing on opposite ends of the earth (Hong Kong and
Alaska).
Papers
Gabriel Brostow joined the project to contribute to an academic paper
describing the Time Maps technique. This paper is part of SIGGRAPH 2004's Technical
Sketches program. The paper is available here:
